Climate, Economics Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India

At WRI India, we believe tackling the climate crisis demands bold ideas, in-depth research, and transformative action. Through collaboration and strategic partnerships, we bridge the gap between knowledge and impact, ensuring data-driven solutions drive meaningful and scalable change. The Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) Program leverages cutting-edge analysis, innovative tools, and real-world implementation to inform India’s low-carbon transition—one that is technologically viable, economically feasible, socially inclusive, and nature-positive.

About The Role

As Program Manager – Economics of Climate and Green Growth, you will play a pivotal role in analysing economic pathways that can drive India's just, inclusive, and sustainable transition to Net Zero. We are looking for a critical thinker and problem-solver, passionate about leveraging quantitative methods and economic analyses to inform the future of people-centred climate action in India.

How your day will unfold:

• Lead High-Impact Research: Drive data-driven insights based on rigorous research that can inform policies, business strategies, and interventions. Lead scenario development, sensitivity analysis, and economic assessments of low-carbon pathways. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in data collection, model calibration, and policy impact assessments.
• Mentor Lead teams: Guide a team of bright, aspiring researchers and foster technical excellence and critical thinking.
• Translate Research into Action: Produce publications, articles and blogs that translate complex research into clear insights and recommendations.
• Engage with Stakeholders: Collaborate with policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to strengthen partnerships and scale impact.

What We’re Looking For
• 7-10 years of experience in energy-economy modelling, climate policy, economic analysis and research.
• Advanced proficiency in modelling tools such as R, Python, STATA, GAMS, Vensim, or GIS software is desirable
• Proven track record of leading policy-driven research publications and high-impact collaborations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to convey insights to diverse audiences.
• Experience in team management, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

Why Join Us?
• Work at the forefront of Climate Policy Research: Work at the nexus of people, nature, and climate, where we apply cutting-edge economic models and creative problem-solving to drive holistic, equitable, and sustainable outcomes.
• Set the Benchmark for Research Excellence: At WRI India, we uphold the highest standards of research quality, objectivity, and integrity to deliver evidence-based insights and practical solutions that drive meaningful change.
• Join a Team That Inspires and Supports You: Be part of a diverse, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace where passionate colleagues collaborate to tackle complex environmental challenges, drive meaningful change, and uplift each other along the way
• Collaborate with a Global Network of Experts: Engage with a global network of thought leaders and experts who bring innovative approaches to address real-world policy issues.
