The Organization:

For over 40 years, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC) has been dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering everyone affected by a brain tumour while funding research and advocating for better outcomes. Our vision is to find the cause of and a cure for brain tumours while improving the quality of life for those affected.

The Role:

The Manager, National Events & Community Engagement will plan, develop, manage and drive the growth and impact of the Foundation’s national Walk program, as well as community events, which take place across the country. As a superb people and project manager, the Manager will mentor and oversee one staff member and collaborate with volunteers across the country. They will also develop, implement and continuously improve operational processes, tools, timelines and documentation to support the efficient delivery of the events portfolio. Travelling across the country, the Manager is the lead for all events and ensures success and achievement of financial goals.

The Manager reports to the Director of External Relations and works closely and collaboratively with all the teams across the Foundation. In this role, the individual serves as a member of the Foundation’s leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic management and oversight

Strategically plan, develop, coordinate, and manage all logistics for the Foundation’s annual national Walk initiative supporting 21 individual walks and raising $1.5 million (gross) revenue.
Plan, develop, coordinate and manage all (35-50) nationally based community events in support of Foundation’s overall mission, raising $650,000 revenue, while identifying new opportunities to grow the program.
Create and manage revenue and expense budgets for the Foundation’s national walk initiative and community events program.
Attend national events supporting Walk initiatives and community events program.
Support event data management by collaborating with Foundation teams to ensure all systems are synched and appropriately utilized, while assessing reporting needs and working with Finance on completion of all financial transactions.
Contribute to the development of annual budgets and operating plans as a member of the Foundation’s leadership team.
Contribute to overall operational and management discussions and decisions in support of Foundation’s mission.
Project and team management

Develop and maintain open, collaborative and trusting relationships with Foundation team and national volunteers to support the growth of national events.
