Job Description
We are seeking an assistant mechanic to join our maintenance team. This is a permanent full-time position with a day schedule, from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Under the supervision of the supervisor, the assistant mechanic performs various tasks related to the mechanical field. This role exposes the candidate to different types of maintenance and repairs on both fixed and mobile equipment. It is an opportunity for the candidate to start a career as an assistant mechanic.
What you’re responsible for:
Ensure conveyors and systems operate efficiently according to manufacturer recommendations
Inspect, clean, and adjust conveyor scrapers and brushes
Prepare, clean, inspect, and lubricate mechanical parts
Assist with the mechanical assembly of certain components
Perform equipment greasing under supervision
Ensure proper use and operation of company equipment
Inform the immediate supervisor of any required actions, identified issues, or delays
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Work safely in compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures
Perform any other related tasks as required
Qualifications
To join our team:
Experience in maintenance, repair, and adjustment of mechanical equipment such as conveyors, grinders, shredders, vibrating tables, hydraulic systems, etc. (an asset)
Experience performing manual work or an equivalent combination of relevant experience
Strong manual/hand skills
Autonomous, methodical, and proactive
Diligent, conscientious, and resourceful
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Information
Work Environment:
Comfortable working in a noisy environment
Comfortable working in a dusty environment
May be required to work outdoors and be exposed to hot or cold temperatures
