Touring Exhibitions Manager

Temporary up to 12 months
Full-time, 35 hours per week
Sydney CBD – The Domain
Clerk Grade 7/8
Total Remuneration Package $142,695
Salary $113,574 to $125,750 pa

Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role
Manage touring exhibition teams to realise the concept and presentation of allocated and agreed touring exhibitions and regional engagement projects and ensure that human and financial resources are responsibly managed. The position holder manages a small team of specialist staff to ensure the touring exhibitions program is implemented utilising the highest standards of risk management and museum best practice

What Technical/Soft Skills you require

Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant, equivalent professional experience.
Proven touring exhibition project management experience including itinerary development and negotiation, contract negotiation and management, budgeting, risk assessments, resourcing and logistical planning. Experience leading teams to enable successful delivery of agreed priorities and initiatives.
High level communication with strong facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Current driver’s license

Targeted Questions

Provide an example of a successful touring exhibition which you coordinated. Describe how you worked collaboratively with other team members and external stakeholders to optimise deliverables for all parties. (300 words)
Provide an example of how you used your organisational skills to manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities and deadlines, successfully meeting the expectations of all stakeholders. (300 words)
Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013, therefore you may be contacted to participate.
