Full job description
We’re looking for a skilled and dependable Sous Chef to join the team at Bearslake Inn – a busy and well-regarded 13th-century gastro pub on the edge of Dartmoor.
You’ll be second in command to the Head Chef, helping to deliver high-quality dishes and maintain smooth kitchen operations. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take ownership of their work, get involved in menu input, and help lead a small, dedicated team.
The role:
Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
Leading services in their absence and managing kitchen team during shifts
Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene
Contributing to menu development and specials
Assisting with ordering, stock control and kitchen organisation
What we’re looking for:
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong CDP ready to step up
Confident working in a high-quality, fast-paced environment
A positive leader who’s calm under pressure and inspires those around them
Good knowledge of food safety and allergens
Someone with a long-term mindset who wants to be part of a growing business
