Research Technician
The Royal Melbourne Hospital
ACRF Translational Research Laboratory – Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre
Part Time role (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week)
Work as part of a team contributing to improvement in cancer treatment and care
The ACRF Translational Research Laboratory is a team of clinicians and laboratory scientists working together to improve the treatment of patients diagnosed with blood cancers. Our laboratory is instrumental in the design and activation of clinical trials incorporating biobanking and biomarker analyses and currently supports the activities of more than 25 prospective clinical trials.
Your experience in processing patient samples will provide the research material that is used in studies performed in our laboratory and those of our collaborators.
Your new role:
Work as part of a team in a flexible and high quality translational research environment for the undertaking of translational and biomarker research across a range of clinical conditions with a particular focus on blood cancers
Process patient tissue and blood samples with a high degree of technical expertise.
Utilise your high level of attention to detail to maintain databases of samples processed across various studies
Assist laboratory research staff with experiments as directed
About you:
You have a Bachelor of Science/Biomedicine/Applied Science or equivalent
You have experience in one or more fields of Immunology, Haematology and Oncology as well as experience working in a translational research environment
You demonstrate a high level of project management and have excellent record keeping and IT skills
You are able to effectively collaborate with staff across a number of laboratories and research institutions
