The City of Sugar Land is seeking a Part-Time Kennel Technician in the Animal Services Department.

As a Part-Time Kennel Technician, you will:


Responsible for the feeding, walking, bathing, and exercising of all sugar land animals in the Shelter’s care.
Assist the veterinary technician with administration of medications indicated by the Veterinarian.
Clean up after animals both inside the facility and outside the shelter. This includes a thorough cleaning of each kennel, cat cage and all wildlife rooms in use.
Assist members of staff with handling, restraining and comforting animals as animals are brought in by visitors or during daily activities.
Be available on weekends and holidays to fill in at the shelter.
Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director or his/her designee.

Formal Education:

High School or GED Certificate required.
Relatable Work Experience:

Preferably, at least one year of progressively responsible experience working with animals.
Municipal Experience is preferred.
Training (License and/or Certification):

Valid Class “C” Texas Driver License.
