The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Program Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 10 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Research Program Director.

There may be times when the individual may be required to working outside normal hours, and occasional travel to attend research-related meetings and conferences. Position is located at the Alberta Children's Hospital.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Coordinate interdisciplinary teams and national research collaborators
In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, develop the structure, objectives, and policies of the research project, evaluating research activities and recommending improvements when appropriate
Work closely with the Team Manager in the management of resources to ensure research program will meet objectives and targets
Provide research support, produce reports, and administer research policies and procedures
Create project databases in REDcap
Conduct data cleaning
Obtain and maintain necessary CHREB, AHS, and APL approvals
Monitor research funding and budgeting resources and collaborate with Research Accounting if necessary
Develop project timelines, monitor and control of project deadlines and outcomes, and closeout of research projects
Successfully interact with academic and AHS entities, including other researchers and administrative departments (e.g., HR, finances, legal)
Train and mentor junior team members (including students, research assistants, and other study staff), including the delegation of tasks to respective team members
Coordinate all data and specimen collection
Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a health sciences related field required, master's degree preferred
Minimum 7-10 years of clinical research experience required in pediatric infectious diseases and vaccine clinical trials
Clinical research training including TCPS-2, Good Clinic Practice, and Health Canada Division 5 training required
Expert knowledge of University of Calgary research policies is required, including research ethics, AHS and APL operational approvals, finances, and legal agreements
Expert knowledge of university systems, including IRISS, eFin, and others
Expert knowledge of the clinical research project lifecycle and regulations
Experience in project management (development of project timelines, monitoring and adhering to project deadlines)
Extensive experience with patient recruitment and consenting
Knowledge of theory and practical application of research policies and procedures
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities
Experience hiring and supervising research staff
Experience creating databases and extracting data from REDCap
Knowledge of research ethics and regulations for granting agencies
Knowledge of electronic databases, including Davima, Filemaker, and Inform
Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., Connect Care) is an asset
