HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Current Certificate of Competence.
Current medical nursing experience.
Current BCLS.
Evidence of continuing education.
Canadian Nurses Association – Medical/Surgical Certificate an asset.
Gerontology certificate preferred.
WHO YOU ARE:

Demonstrated knowledge of specific diagnoses and pathologies associated with Medical Units.
Excellent assessment skills.
Training/knowledge of Gentle Persuasion Approach (GPA), P.I.E.C.E.S. *TM, U-First!, Montessori for Dementia preferred or willingness to receive training.
Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients, families, staff, physicians and the intra-professional care team.
Excellent organizational skills.
CPI would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
Demonstrated good attendance record and ability to maintain same.
Basic computer skills and knowledge.
