Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room nurse with a minimum of two years of experience. Licensed RN with a deep understanding of the surgical field and the ability to perform complex procedures with precision. Someone who possesses the following core requirements and descriptions:

Certification: Hold a current nursing license and have passed the CNOR certification exam, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and high-quality patient care.

Experience: Minimum of two years of operating room experience, with at least 50% of those hours in the intraoperative setting.

Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, proficiency in using surgical instruments and technology, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Knowledge: Knowledge of operating room procedures, safety measures, and the latest technological advances.

Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other operating room personnel to deliver safe and effective care to patients. Someone who can provide the highest standard of patient care and contribute to the safe and successful outcome of any surgery.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
Assist in the administration of anesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs throughout the procedure.
Perform scrub duties, including passing instruments to the surgeon and maintaining a sterile environment.
Conduct pre-operative assessments to evaluate patients' readiness for surgery.
Provide post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and educating patients on aftercare.
Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain compliance with hospital policies and NCQA standards.
Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in surgical nursing.
Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Experience in an Operating Room setting is preferred; familiarity with Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus.
Proficient in aseptic technique, IV insertion, medication administration, and patient assessment.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical documentation practices.
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to handle emergencies effectively.
Background in acute care, critical care, or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
