Outdoor Instructors Wanted :)

Diverse role, leading a variety of activities.
Small, close-knit team with a vibrant, energised culture.

Do you love getting into the outdoors and sharing your passion for adventure?

Apply today and embark on a rewarding pathway that will see you provide exciting and educational outdoor experiences to school students and members of the community!

Established in 1++5, Bigfoot Adventures is a mobile outdoor education and recreation provider servicing schools, organisations and communities across the North Island of New Zealand.

Bigfoot specialises in school camps, Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programmes, Duke of Edinburgh Award journeys, school community bike skills events, and outdoor education experiences. Outdoor activities are the vehicle for growth and development in our clients and we pride ourselves on being able to offer a wide variety of options. Mountain biking, caving, rock climbing, kayaking, raft building, archery, adventure-based learning, bike skills, abseiling, and group stand up paddle boarding are just some of the activities we offer!

We are looking for outdoor enthusiasts across all pursuits.

So, who is the right candidate? Ask yourself these questions:

Do you have experience leading or teaching others in dynamic environments?
Do you enjoy working with people and sharing your knowledge?
Do you enjoy supporting others to succeed in achieving their goals?

If you answered yes to these questions then this could be the kind of rewarding opportunity you’ve been searching for! Someone with a teaching or instructional background is ideal but not required.

If you feel comfortable speaking in front of groups, delivering activity content in a fun and engaging way, and you have an eye for detail then you could be the person for the job.

Bigfoot will provide training and support to all applicants to ensure they have the required competency for the activity and programme.

In a typical week you'll be leading adventure activities either independently or with a group of instructors. The ability to engage, inspire and foster team spirit through appropriate communication will be essential. You will need to be passionate about the outdoors/outdoor education and motivated to share your passion with others!

This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, with a culture that is supportive, inspired, and passionate.

Required for this role:

Current first aid certificate; and
Full driver’s licence.

Recommended for this role:

Passenger endorsement.

Availability for the role:

All applicants should have minimum availability that includes:
Available for initial induction and training from early November (at the latest);
Availability during the week min. 2-3 days, including possible overnight stays on journeys and/or camps;

Please be aware, although recruitment and induction for these roles will take place in early November, Bigfoot Adventures closes for a significant period of time between Christmas and mid-to-late January. Additional training opportunities will be available during this time, before opening up again for our BUSY season – which carries through until April.
