Mō tēnei mahi | About this job

We are seeking a Kaiako to teach the Te Tiwhikete Manaaki Tangata (Kaupae 4) Certificate in Bi-cultural Social Services (Level 4) at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWoA). This is a permanent, full-time position, starting in January 2025.

This role involves developing and delivering lesson plans, guiding tauira through their learning journey, and ensuring their success through tailored teaching methods. The Kaiako will be responsible for creating an inclusive, supportive environment that embraces indigenous teaching practices, regularly assessing tauira progress, and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. This position also involves maintaining academic records, collaborating with support teams, and fostering a positive and engaging learning experience.

The ideal person is a skilled and passionate educator, committed to fostering a supportive and culturally enriched learning environment while helping tauira achieve their full potential.

You will also bring with you:

A Bachelors Degree relevant to social services d demonstrate ither holding or showing equivalence for NZQA standards assessed in this programme.
New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent
Either attest equivalence for NZQA standards required to assess and moderate this programme OR hold the NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (L4)
Full and current New Zealand Drivers’ License
2+ years proven teaching experience in a related role teaching adult learners

Whilst teaching experience is highly valued at TWoA, newly qualified Kaiako with relevant qualifications but with no or limited previous teaching experience will also be considered

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
