OVERVIEW
AtkinsClarke are proud to be partnering with a UK-based manufacturing business in search of a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead their £100 million revenue operation. Based primarily on-site in Leicestershire, this is a number one finance position with strategic oversight and day-to-day financial leadership responsibilities. You’ll work closely with the UK Managing Director and local leadership team, playing a key role in driving financial performance and supporting decision-making at every level.

ROLE
This is a broad and high-impact Financial Controller role, leading all aspects of the UK finance function. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and partnering with the leadership team to drive commercial performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Oversee all core finance activities including management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
Lead the monthly close process and deliver insightful variance analysis and financial reports
Manage statutory reporting, tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax), and external audits
Own cashflow forecasting and working capital management
Partner with Operations Director and leadership team to drive performance
Provide financial input into capex, pricing, tendering, and investment decisions
Liaise with auditors, HMRC, banks, and other external stakeholders
Drive process improvement, cost control, and system enhancements (ERP/Excel)
Lead, develop, and mentor a small finance team, ensuring high performance and accountability
PERSON
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on finance leader who combines technical rigour with strong commercial instincts. The ideal candidate will be confident operating as the senior finance voice on-site and comfortable working closely with operational and executive teams.
Key requirements include:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Proven experience in a senior finance role within manufacturing or industrial sectors
Strong understanding of management reporting, statutory compliance, and financial planning
Commercially astute with experience supporting strategic decisions (e.g. pricing, capex, investment)
Hands-on and proactive, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong systems experience (ERP, Excel) and a continuous improvement mindset
Track record of managing and developing small teams
