Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is the completion of HVAC Preventative Maintenance, repairs, and projects at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) and auxiliary sites.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for customer service.
• Completes, instructs, or assists with the installation, service and repair of environmental control systems. Implements and follows work guidelines to include work orders, trade practices, services instructions, and parts lists.
• Work will include maintenance and repairs to heating systems and equipment base wide.
• Mechanics are expected to be able to complete rewiring, control repairs, and some work on ancillary equipment.
• Mechanics are also expected to be familiar with most types of Heat Pumps, chillers, HTHW and MTHW systems, associated controls and wiring, ductwork, insulation, and piping.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training, preferably with Refrigeration experience.
• Must be EPA certified.
• Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
• On a continuous basis, sit, stand, bend, climb ladders (up to 40 feet), stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; lift or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance; communicate with co-workers using cellular phones or telephones, write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction.
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors environments. Some work is performed with exposure to low to loud noise levels; frequent fieldwork is required with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and the external environment; tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces and the use of ladders or other safety equipment to gain access to hard-to-reach locations; some work is performed in tunnels, crawl spaces, attics or on rooftops. Some work may require exposure to dust, particulates, unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances, and high voltage.
• Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
• Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
• Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
• Follow up on suspense items to ensure timely completion.
• Consistently produces quality products and service.
• Ability to work independently.
• Complete all training within required timeline.
• Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
• Completes all safety, anti-terrorism, fire extinguisher, asbestos awareness, and any other local, state, federal, installation required, and any other training deemed necessary by the supervisor or position.
• Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English.
• Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
• Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
• Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
• Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
• Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
• Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer’s mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification. 
• Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
• Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
• Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
