Position: Commercial Lawyer at City
Elevate local governance with the City of Mississauga as a Commercial Lawyer. You'll provide essential legal guidance and support across municipal, construction, and procurement law in a hybrid environment.
The City of Mississauga's Legal Services Division seeks an experienced legal counsel with a strong foundation in commercial law and municipal legislation. The ideal candidate will provide strategic advice to various city stakeholders while engaging with complex legal matters that impact the community. Your expertise will guide council decisions, influence public procurement strategies, and ensure legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice to City Council and leadership teams
• Negotiate and draft various commercial agreements
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions
• Address legal issues proactively to mitigate risks
• Support staff with compliance and strategic goals
Requirements:
• Law Society of Ontario member with LLB or JD
• Minimum 8 years in commercial law
• Proven legal writing and negotiation skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
• Familiarity with paperless systems and legal tech
