Join Liberty Mutual Canada as a Senior Counsel for Global Surety, located in Toronto, ON. This is a unique opportunity to provide embedded legal support in a hybrid workplace for a growing book of business.
The Senior
Counsel will play a critical role in supporting Liberty Mutual Canada’s Global Surety business as it evolves. You will work directly with underwriting and operations, ensuring the timely delivery of legal advice on complex surety issues. The position requires a proactive approach to legal risk management and the development of legal resources to enhance operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:
• Act as primary legal advisor to Global Surety partners
• Offer legal insights on indemnity agreements and transactions
• Track legal changes relevant to the surety market
• Foster effective partnerships within legal and business teams
• Engage in technology initiatives to streamline legal processes Requirements:
• Juris Doctor or LL.B. and good standing in a provincial law society
• 9–12 years’ professional experience in surety/insurance law
• Deep understanding of commercial contract law
• Strong problem-solving skills in complex scenarios
