Job description
Kirinari is seeking Youth Support Workers to provide individualised support for children and young people residing in Kirinari OOHC homes. Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse or neglect and may have a mental health, physical or psychosocial disabilities.
We are looking for resilient and committed team members who can support young people to build skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care to provide safety and empowerment.
About the Role
Provide direct person-centred support and care to young people who reside in Kirinari OOHC homes, ensuring their individual needs are met.
Support young people to develop independent living skills, achieve their goals, and engage in their local communities.
Maintain a safe and welcoming home environment and empower young people to develop skills that support them to live a good life within their local community.
Responsibilities
Daily care and support, including assisting with household duties.
Transporting young people to and from appointments.
Supporting connection to family and culture.
Working alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care.
Requirements
Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
Understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice (or willingness to learn).
Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare, or related areas (Cert IV) (highly regarded).
Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma (highly regarded).
Able to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers.
Able to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement.
Able to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
Able to be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register.
Complete a National Criminal History Check (paid by Kirinari).
Able to be physically active and engage with young people playing games/sport etc.
Able to use computers and learn a variety of software/programs.
Hold a current Driver's License.
