Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway where joining the Telecommunications Department offers you the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on maintaining the communications systems across the network. The Telecom Electronic Technician II contributes to the safe and efficient operation of the railroad by managing essential communication systems and devices.

This is a full-time (40hrs/wk) position, 6 days a week (5 regular working days and one on-call day). Subject to on-call (24/6), overtime, alternate shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift assignments are governed by union agreement, typically based on seniority.

Moderate travel is required. While the work location is headquartered, there will be travel and work within the assigned seniority region at times for an extended time.

Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job and classroom training and will include travel to the BNSF Training Center.

Key responsibilities may include:

Installing, repairing, and maintaining various telecommunications equipment, including radios, digital microwave (MW), and radio frequency (RF) data link equipment.

Install, assemble, repair, adjust, test and maintain wired and wireless systems and devices, automatic equipment identification (AEI) systems, IP networks, VoIP, cameras, Radio Frequency (RF) communications, voice and data communications, front and end train devices, and soldering electrical/electronic components.

Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.

Basic Qualifications:
Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
At least 18 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date listed in the job description.
Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
Able to work the above shift/hours.
Able to meet the above travel requirements.
Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English.
Able to work indoors primarily at a work bench, equipment bay, installation garage or Radio Frequency (RF) transmission facility.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow.
Possess a valid state issued driver's license.
Experience doing soldering work.
Able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
2 years minimum of verifiable electronics experience or post-high school training.
Able to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling.
