EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
We are accepting applications for the term position of Teacher at the Tłisalagi'lakw School to provide teaching and educational services to assigned students.
Reporting to: Tłisalagi'lakw School Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teach students of Tłisalagi'lakw School as assigned (K-7)
· Involve family and community members in classroom activities
· Prepare long term, monthly, weekly, and daily lesson plans
· Evaluate and report on students’ intellectual, social, and academic progress regularly
· Accommodate students with diverse abilities and disabilities
· Consult regularly with the Inclusive Education Teacher and Education Assistants
· Set academic and behavioral goals for each student and class
· Participate as a member of the school supervisory and extra-curricular teams
· Provide written reports three times a year and attend home-school connections meetings and student-led conferences
· Attend all applicable staff meetings
· Adhere to ‘Nmis First Nation Human Resources Policy
· Participate on the school-based teams and committees as required
· Attend Professional Development activities and training as required
· Follow and implement the British Columbia Curriculum
· Incorporate Kwakwk’wakw culture and Kwakwala language as much as possible
· Maintain up to date records as required by the Principal
· Be familiar with and use current educational technology and trends as necessary
SKILLS EXPERIENCE:
· Working knowledge of the British Columbia Curriculum
· Able to plan, organize, and maintain student records effectively
· Able to lead, motivate, encourage, and empower students
· Be computer literate with special knowledge of educational applications and functions
· Previous experience working in a First Nations community preferred
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Education or undergraduate degree with teaching certificate
· Member in good standing with the British Columbia College of Teachers
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search through CRRP
SALARY:
· $5+,805.20 – $7+,388.40 (depending on education, qualifications, and experience)
