Job Description
Senior Tax Associate
Job Responsibilities:
• Code all tax payments and tax professional fee invoices for Accounts Payable department
• Review and approve all monthly sales & local tax returns and vouchers
• Conduct monthly maintenance and reconciliations of general ledger for Direct Tax accounts
• Maintain Federal and State income tax matrix, adjustments, and journal entry write up as required
• Assist in maintaining several hundred multiple entity online Tax Authority website accounts, for any name changes, account closures / openings, etc.
• Handle preparation of Federal and State direct income tax workpaper documentation and tax apportionment tax workpapers with support from multi-system data mining
• Provide Registered Agent with all annual report information and filings for US and Canada
• Coordinate online income tax payments with multiple state/federal agencies
• Collaborate with the Indirect Tax Manager; assist Indirect Tax on keeping timely deadlines with business licenses, gross receipts taxes tracker and filings.
• Support and assist VP Tax in resolution of Tax Authority indirect and direct tax notices and to prepare quarterly and annual transfer pricing calculations and filings as requested
• Work with external tax compliance consultants, as necessary
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA certification preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of Direct Income Tax work experience
• Experience with Bloomberg Tax Depreciation software and understanding of fixed asset depreciation
• Experience in Direct Income Tax compliance and knowledge that can be applied without software
• Experience with AvaTax and Avalara ECM (formerly CertCapture) preferred
• Working knowledge of JD Edwards accounting system preferred
• Intermediate level or above MS Office Excel skills
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment with a keen sense of ownership and timely filing of deadlines
• Detailed oriented with strong organization skills and ability to multi-task in a challenging environment
