As part of the General Ledger and Project Costing group, this position will report to the General Ledger Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations. In this role, you will provide directions and assistance to the operations, procedures and practices of the general accounting unit as well as Budget team.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain working knowledge of professional accounting principles and practices in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and applicable Federal, State, and City laws.
Maintain Accounting records in the General Ledger and prepare month end reconciliations.
Grant management and accounting for All divisions.
Liaise between Budget managers and Accounting to resolve errors and discrepancies
Support management information and reporting requirements via the maintenance of current queries/reports, design of new queries and writing of ad-hoc queries as required.
Maintain and update policies and procedures pertaining to general ledger and project costing functions.
Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation and responding to audit enquiries in a timely manner.
Oversee completion of month-end and year-end tasks per respective close calendars.
Provide guidance/cross training to accountants as required and provide guidance to other finance members.
