Why your role matters

The Scholarly Content Officer ensures effective discovery and access to open access resources scholarly information resources including HDR candidate theses, research outputs, monographs, and reports.

The Library’s Scholarly Communications and Repositories Unit is responsible for leading the development of the Library’s research services, research reporting, repository infrastructure. This includes developing services to support the management and reporting of a range of research outputs including publications, non- traditional research outputs (NTROs) and research data, the development of the Library’s open access programs, and underpinning infrastructure.

This role enhances access to scholarly resources by curating metadata, supporting system implementations, and delivering client-focused services. Key duties include reviewing and processing outputs submitted to the Institutional Repository, ensuring metadata accuracy and copyright compliance. The role also involves maintaining and updating procedures for content description, participating in process improvements, and evaluating work practices and policies.

This is a new position, full time ongoing, reporting to the Team Leader, Scholarly Content, with no direct reports.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. They will have a strong understanding of scholarly content discovery and access within an academic library or similar environment. With proven accuracy and attention to detail, they will have a sound grasp of data quality principles and a commitment to adhering to standards.

The candidate will be capable of making informed decisions in a dynamic, multi-tasking team setting with overlapping priorities and deadlines. They will possess analytical skills to solve complex problems and can consistently apply complex procedures across a range of tasks. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, along with a strong customer focus, will be key to their success in this role.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full ongoing rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position. The role is based in Sydney – Kensington campus.
