Description:

The College of Optometry at the University of Houston seeks applicants with an OD degree for a part-time non-tenure track Research Scientist (non-exempt) position.

The Research Scientist position will be responsible for making contributions to setting up visual and image assessment within the medical-imaging laboratory of Dr. Michael Kalloniatis. The purpose of the laboratory is to determine normal function/imaging to which to compare ocular disease (focus on glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration) and diabetic retinopathy. The OD will work closely with the laboratory manager on all projects.

The position will also conduct clinical testing using a range of equipment and assess ocular health. Some data analysis, review of research ethics applications, participation in writing of manuscripts and supervision of students would also form part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
Licensed to practice optometry in Texas
Experience in subject recruitment would be an advantage.

Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
