Job Description
Holloway Thliveris LLP is currently looking for a part-time or full-time experienced real estate paralegal to join our team.
Located in newly renovated office space in downtown Winnipeg, Holloway Thliveris LLP is a fast-growing law firm specializing in construction and corporate commercial law.
Responsibilities include:
Attending to file openings and reviewing conflict searches
Preparing real estate transactional and conveyance documents, including transfers, caveats, purchase and sale agreements, mortgages, discharges, refinancing-related documents, liens, and all related documentation
Conducting and reviewing public office searches, including Property Registry/Land Titles Offices, Municipal Tax, Personal Property Registry (PPR), Bankruptcy, Bank Act, Companies Office, Sherriff’s Office, Court of Queen’s Bench, municipal work orders, zoning, workplace safety, environmental, employment and utilities
Preparing real estate transactional and conveyance documents, including transfers, caveats, purchase and sale agreements, mortgages, discharges, refinancing-related documents, liens, and all related documentation
Analyzing and drafting trust conditions for review by supervising lawyer
Maintaining and organizing schedules of closings
Managing all incoming and outgoing funds, including calculation of requisite funds for closing, mortgage financing and other requirements
Producing reports as necessary, including mortgage reports to lenders
Attending to closing matters with respect to asset and share sale and purchase transactions
Preparing purchase and sale reports to clients
Preparing invoices as necessary
Maintaining client communications and, where necessary, acting as primary contact with clients and other counsel
Writing routine correspondence
Assistance to counsel and paralegals in a team environment
Qualifications include:
Graduate of an accredited legal program or comparable experience
Previous experience in the areas of residential real estate and/or refinancing
Attention to detail especially as it relates to document drafting and proofreading skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Working knowledge of electronic platforms and computer skills required to perform related tasks such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet client-driven and transactional deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
