Work across Transpower and apply your astute planning and communication skills to a broad programme of deliverables!

Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

As the owner and operator of New Zealand's electricity transmission grid, we provide a critical service, including seeking to understand how the grid can deliver the cost-effective level of service expected of customers, while accommodating the growing demand for renewable electricity through electrification of industry and transport.

About the team

Transpower's Grid Development division works to identify grid needs for the next 30 years. We undertake critical activities to inform future investments that ensure the grid is safe, reliable and resilient, and that these investments are integrated with wider system plans.

Our Strategy Performance and Risk group develops our asset management system, including our grid strategies, risk, and resilience information. The team also reports on grid performance, manages asset and system information, and models asset health and criticality.

The Resilience and Adaptation team is responsible for the risk and resilience information and frameworks to support resilience and adaptation into our Asset Management system and provide risk reporting.

The opportunity - a newly created role

To bring together many interesting initiatives - we have created a new permanent Programme Manager role to support varied cross enterprise projects including

Our Climate Adaptation Plan implementation activities
A decision support tool roadmap to develop and improve asset management tools and insights
Management review and control self-assessment actions to support continuous improvement
Customer site risk review programme to manage risks to the transmission service from customer assets on site
Readiness planning programme to support our response to major hazard events
Regulatory programmes of work for the Grid including improvement areas identified in our RCP4 proposal (pages 33-34)
As the programme manager for these initiatives, you will build relationships across our business and drive value and the outcomes required, whilst managing risk. There will be lots of learning and the knowledge you are directly contributing towards a more sustainable energy future for Aotearoa!

What will you bring?

You'll have project or programme management experience in cross business initiatives (a plus if these are in energy sector or another infrastructure or similarly regulated or complex industry) and exceptional communication and organisational skills. Your superpower will be building relationships and "corralling the cats" to coordinate and engender action from many varied busy humans of all levels, where your programme may not be their immediate or pressing priority!

To be shortlisted your CV, cover letter and career to date will demonstrate:

A tertiary qualification and professional qualification in programme and/or project management
Demonstrated experience with programme or project management including proven ability to coordinate, develop reporting, and drive programme/project delivery
Excellent facilitation and communication skills to prioritise and scope work within a team and wider
Previous experience taking the lead on a programme or initiative and operationalising new practices
Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems/processes, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternatives
While not essential - experience of or a qualification in change management would be advantageous.
