About Us:

SunDrive is one of Australia's most exciting start-ups, operating in one of the world's most exciting spaces – renewable energy technology. We are on a mission to unlock Solar's full potential by revolutionising how solar cells are made, to unlock new heights of efficiency, and sustainability.

Founded in 2015 by two UNSW roommates, we have come a long way from the breakthrough made in their garage to producing the world’s most efficient commercial-sized solar cell.

In 2022, we secured $21 million in our Series A funding round and are backed by some of Australia’s top venture capital firms (Blackbird, Main Sequence, Virescent, and Mike Cannon-Brooke’s private investment fund, Grok), tech founders, a former Australian Prime Minister, and the Australian Government.

About the Role:

You will be part of a robust, agile, and dedicated team of 6 seasoned experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the Photovoltaics space. Some team members have been with SunDrive since its early days, growing alongside our mission (as you will), to revolutionise solar energy.

In this role, you’ll report directly to our Head of Process Engineering and take on the exciting challenge of operating SunDrive’s production line, while collaborating closely with our Mechanical and Mechatronics engineering teams.

Your contributions will go beyond the day-to-day as you conduct hands-on experiments, perform post-result analysis, and deep dive into the characterisation of solar cells, helping us to breakthrough and continuously improve our patented solar cell technology.

This is a unique chance for graduates or early-career professionals to gain invaluable experience and grow long term in the renewable energy sector, alongside a team that's willing to roll up their sleeves that is hardworking, transparent and very driven as are you.
You will focus on:
Operate various pieces of measurement devices
Generating experimental and production reports.
Closely track performance metrics for production runs and technical experiments.
Conduct basic maintenance of various pieces of equipment
Work closely with various team members to ensure smooth operation.
We would love you to have:
Bachelor's or Masters in an engineering discipline.
0 - 1+ years of experience in an engineering role. (We are looking to consider graduates early career professionals for this role!)
A sharp eye for detail and diligent way of working.
Great communication skills, verbally and written, precise with wording.
Enthusiasm working in a fast-paced environment with ambitious milestones.

Bonus if you bring:
Practical engineering experience in either a lab or industrial setting.
Exposure to experimental reporting and data analysis.
Ability to design, execute and analyse large processing experiments (100+ sample size).
An understanding of the solar cell processing sequence.
Benefits @ SunDrive!

Free Office Lunch and Snacks
With hard work comes a hungry team, and our team has access to free snacks, and refreshing drinks throughout the day including a free lunch on Wednesdays!
