We are seeking a committed and experienced JK/SK Teacher to support our growing Primary Division. This role is ideal for a relationship-focused educator who understands the unique learning needs of four- and five-year-olds and who can confidently implement a structured and academically focused Kindergarten program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to blend Montessori-informed practices with the expectations of the Ontario Kindergarten Program, while also incorporating phonemic awareness, early reading, and numeracy instruction through tools such as Heggerty and UFLI. Experience delivering a traditional academic Kindergarten program that moves beyond How Does Learning Happen? is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Implement a high-quality Kindergarten program that blends play-based learning with structured academic instruction through the Everstone+ curriculum.
Adapt and extend curriculum beyond the Ontario Kindergarten framework by integrating Heggerty, UFLI, Montessori, and academic phonics and numeracy practices.
Deliver intentional, skill-based instruction in literacy, numeracy, and foundational learning, ensuring students are on track for Grade 1 readiness.
Use a Scope of the Day or another approved framework to provide a balanced daily routine that includes academic, creative, and developmental learning blocks.
Support assessment and evaluation through observation, conferencing, and work product, aligning to the developmental and academic goals for each student.
Create a safe, consistent, and engaging classroom environment that supports exploration, self-regulation, and personal responsibility.
Maintain accurate documentation of student growth and development, contributing to school reporting and parent communications.
Act as a school ambassador, representing the school’s culture and vision to new families and supporting the development of home-school trust.
Maintain regular communication with parents through in-person conversations, scheduled updates, and the school’s preferred platform (TalkingPoints).
Collaborate with other Primary teachers and support staff to ensure program continuity, shared planning, and consistent routines across classrooms.
Support students with early self-care skills including toilet learning and hygiene routines as needed.
Engage in the full life of the school, including staff meetings, professional learning, student events, and supervision duties.
Collaborate with Primary staff to ensure alignment in routines, language, and expectations for a seamless academic and social transition.
