Reports to: Pastry Sous Chef / Head Pastry Chef Location: Jaipur Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time Job Summary We are looking for a passionate, disciplined, and detail-oriented Pastry Commis Chef to join our culinary team. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and production of high-quality pastries, breads, and desserts. You will be responsible for executing fundamental techniques, maintaining a clean workspace, and ensuring that every component of our menu meets our exacting standards of taste and presentation. Key Responsibilities 1. Food Preparation & Production Scale and measure ingredients accurately following standardized recipes (standardization is critical for pastry). Prepare base components such as crèmes, ganaches, doughs, batters, and syrups. Assist in the lamination process for viennoiseries (croissants, danishes) or the shaping of artisanal breads. Execute basic finishing techniques, including glazing, piping, and garnishing. 2. Kitchen Operations & Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation at all times. Assist with the receiving and storage of ingredients, ensuring proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation. Clean and maintain specialized pastry equipment (e.g., deck ovens, planetary mixers, dough sheeters). Monitor stock levels and alert the Sous Chef of any shortages. 3. Quality Control & Safety Ensure all food is stored at the correct temperatures according to food safety regulations. Follow strict health and safety guidelines (HACCP) to prevent cross-contamination. Consistently taste and check the quality of preparations under the guidance of senior chefs. Required Skills & Qualifications Education: A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or a related field is preferred. Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or bakery. Fresh graduates with strong internships are encouraged to apply. Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of tempering chocolate, dough fermentation, and piping techniques. Soft Skills: A high level of "Mise en place" discipline, the ability to take direction quickly, and a "growth mindset" to learn complex techniques. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift heavy flour sacks or equipment (up to 20kg).
