WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?

The Nurse/Midwife Educator Emergency plays a key role in strengthening emergency nursing and midwifery capability across the health service by providing education, training, and professional support to clinicians. Drawing on at least three years of post-registration clinical experience, the role contributes to the development of learning experiences, educational resources, and local teaching initiatives that enhance clinical knowledge, confidence, and practice. The position manages the Regional Emergency Nursing and Midwifery Education (ENAME) program, supports regional emergency service programs and nurses and midwives working in regional emergency departments, helping to build a skilled and responsive workforce.

In addition to education delivery, the role provides leadership in the coordination of projects, programs, and research aimed at improving educational outcomes and service delivery. The Nurse/Midwife Educator Emergency is accountable for promoting safe, evidence-based practice, addressing gaps between policy and practice, and fostering a positive workplace culture that supports high-quality patient and client outcomes. Through collaboration, mentorship, and project leadership, the role contributes to continuous improvement and the delivery of effective emergency care across the network.

The RSS is a business unit in SA Health and provides services throughout regional South Australia to support the six regional local health networks (LHNs). It employs around 260 people who work in 37 regional, rural and remote SA locations, or in the RSS's three Adelaide offices.

Lead and deliver high-quality emergency nursing and midwifery education programs, including teaching, assessment, clinical education support, and workforce capability development across regional and local services.
Coordinate and support learning and professional development initiatives for clinicians, students, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring contemporary, evidence-based practice is embedded into clinical care.
Drive education projects, service improvement activities, and change management initiatives that enhance workforce capability, patient outcomes, and organisational performance.
Provide expert clinical and professional leadership, acting as a mentor, consultant, and trusted advisor to managers, educators, and clinicians on professional practice, workforce development, and education strategies.
Promote best practice through research, innovation, and continuous improvement, integrating current evidence into education programs and supporting the development of a positive, safe, and high-performing clinical culture.
