An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified medical practitioner to join Hywel Dda University Health Board’s progressive team of medical educators, in the role of Medical Education Teaching Fellow for the department of Medicine in Glangwili General Hospital.

This full time teaching fellow role is being offered on a 6 month fixed term basis and expectations of the role include supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across all medical specialties, in addition to providing generic teaching sessions for all medical students.

Despite there being no specific clinical service requirement associated with the role, the Health Board will offer clinical sessions to the teaching fellow within the medical department in a supernumerary capacity, to allow the successful candidate opportunities to keep up to date. On-call sessions will also be optional where there are rota gaps. The successful candidate will also be allocated time within the working week for continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role will include:-
• Delivering ward and classroom based teaching for Medical and Physician Associate Students in accordance with relevant curricula and learning needs
• Delivering ward and classroom based teaching and undertaking workplace based assessments for Junior Doctors
• Active involvement in quality improvement activities

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), ++ community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
• Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services.
