Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager Regional Human Resources works with senior management and regional staff (e.g, those in the Regional School Operation office and Schools) to ensure the Region’s Human Resource requirements and needs are addressed in an efficient and effective manner. The Manager is accountable for the provision of accurate and applicable HR advice and guidance, timely delivery of quality HR services and supports to regional staff including schools, leading and coordinating the Region’s educator recruitment and hiring processes, in consultation with other region’s and HQ division, overseeing regional staff leave, attendance and other HR processes, actively supporting and ensuring appropriate management of reginal staffing actions/employee relation matters, ensuring regional activities and processes align with established departmental, Collective Agreement and Government of Nunavut HR legislation, standards, requirements, and assisting senior management to identify and plan for HR needs and best position the Region to delivery on its mandate, priorities, goals, etc.

The position has subordinate staff. As it relates to these direct reports, there are supervisory duties including directly assigning work, assessing employees performance, and imposing progressive discipline as required.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in human resources, social science, business administration or related field and three years human resources experience including at least one year supervisory experience.

Experience working in the public sector and in a unionized environment, Education and/or Training in Alternate Dispute Resolution, Hay Method Evaluations, Performance Management, and Human Resource Information System and CHRP Designation are considered assets.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
