We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Learn to Skate Hockey Instructor to join our team. This role is responsible for teaching fundamental skating skills to beginners, with a focus on preparing participants for hockey. The ideal candidate has strong skating abilities, a passion for working with children, and the ability to create a fun and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Teach basic skating skills, including balance, forward and backward skating, stopping, and turning, with an emphasis on hockey-specific techniques.
Provide instruction to individuals of all ages and skill levels, primarily focusing on young beginners.
Create a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
Demonstrate proper skating techniques and provide hands-on guidance.
Adapt lessons to accommodate different skill levels and learning styles.
Ensure participants follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate equipment.
Communicate with parents and program coordinators about student progress.
Assist with on-ice activities, warm-ups, and skill development drills.
Help maintain the ice surface and ensure equipment is properly set up.
Promote a love for skating and hockey through fun, engaging instruction.
Qualifications:
Strong skating ability and knowledge of fundamental hockey skating techniques.
Previous coaching, teaching, or playing experience preferred.
Experience working with children in a teaching or coaching capacity.
USA Hockey or Learn to Skate USA coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain).
First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively and positively with participants and parents.
Patient, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching hockey skating skills.
Work Schedule Compensation:
Part-time, evenings and weekends depending on class schedules.
Compensation based on experience and qualifications.
