Job Description
Job Summary of Fleet Mechanic:
We are currently in need of a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team and maintain the optimal performance of our diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The tasks involve diagnosing, repairing, and servicing diesel engines, systems, and components to uphold their reliability and safety. This role requires a strong technical acumen, attention to detail, and a dedication to providing high-quality work.
Responsibilities of Fleet Mechanic:
• Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
• Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
• Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
• Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
• Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.
Qualification of Fleet Mechanic:
• Candidates must demonstrate possession of a high school diploma or its comparable substitute.
• Preference will be given to those who are Class-A CDL licensed and DOT certified
• To qualify, individuals must have at least three years of hands-on experience working as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of the two. Alternatively, they should have a minimum of two years of verified hands-on experience with either a Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification, or both.
• Expertise in diagnosing problems and resolving them in the context of equipment repairs.
• Demonstrated independence in analytical thinking and resolving problems.
• Previous exposure to coordinating a suitable PM initiative.
• Each person must have their personal hand tools ready.
• Maintaining alignment with EPA and OSHA regulations concerning the shop and the company's transportation assets.
• Proficiency in comprehending technical and service manuals for effective utilization.
• Demonstrates adept communication skills, skilled at conversing with co-workers and drivers, showcasing a team-oriented approach.
• Skilled at managing multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Being responsive to the fluctuating needs of the organization and operations.
• Expertise in computer usage and software manipulation.
• Aptitude for working non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends.
• Flexibility in working hours, including the capability to work overtime if the need arises

• DRIVE Occasionally (Test drives equipment) TO LIFT: 1. 1-10 lbs (Sedentary) Continuously
• Regularly carrying out activities that require the handling of items weighing 10 to 20 pounds

• Occasionally, objects weighing between 50 and 100 pounds fall into the heavy category
• Items heavier than 100 pounds (Very Heavy) may be lifted, within the 120-150-pound range (requiring assistive lifting from two people)
