Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a faculty member in Jewellery Manufacturing. The role of a faculty member in Jewellery Manufacturing involves educating and training students in the various aspects of jewellery production, including design, fabrication, casting, finishing, and quality control. The faculty member is responsible for imparting both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for students to excel in the field of jewellery manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Instruction:

· Deliver lectures, workshops, and practical demonstrations to students on topics such as jewellery manufacturing techniques, casting techniques, metalworking, stone setting, finishing, quality control etc.

· Create lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to facilitate effective learning outcomes.

· Provide one-on-one guidance and support to students, offering constructive feedback and assisting them in overcoming challenges in their projects. Create and maintain a curriculum that covers fundamental principles of jewellery manufacturing processes.

2. Curriculum Development:

· Develop and update course curriculum related to jewellery manufacturing to ensure alignment with industry standards and trends.

· Integrate relevant and current industry practices into the curriculum to ensure students are prepared for careers in the jewellery manufacturing field.

3. Mentoring and Advising:

· Serve as a mentor to students, providing guidance on academic, career, and personal matters related to jewellery manufacturing and the industry.

· Offer career advice, portfolio reviews, and assistance in job placement for students seeking employment in the jewellery manufacturing sector.

4. Research and Innovation:

· Engage in research activities related to jewellery manufacturing, materials, techniques, and trends to stay updated with industry advancements.

· Contribute to the field by publishing research findings, participating in conferences, and collaborating with industry professionals.

5. Studio and Lab Management:

· Oversee and manage the jewellery manufacturing laboratory, ensuring a safe, organized, and conducive learning environment.

· Oversee laboratory and workshop activities, ensuring proper usage of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

6. Assessment and Evaluation:

· Develop assessment methods and evaluate student performance through exams, projects, presentations, and other forms of evaluation.

· Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills and knowledge.

7. Industry Engagement:

· Foster relationships with jewellery industry professionals and organizations to facilitate internships, guest lectures, and industry exposure for students and collaborate with industry partners to create opportunities for students to gain real-world experience.

· Professional Development:

· Continuously enhance personal and professional skills through workshops, seminars, and training programs to stay updated with evolving design trends and educational methodologies.

8. Administrative Duties:

· Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation processes as required.

· Assist in program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in jewellery design manufacturing or a related field.
Extensive experience in jewellery manufacturing preferably with a strong portfolio of work.
Knowledge of design software, traditional jewellery making techniques, mass production techniques and current industry trends.
Teaching experience or relevant industry experience with a passion for educating and mentoring students.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
