Job Title: Enterprise VAX Operations Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise VAX Operations Specialist to manage and support our VAX systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in VAX Infrastructure Management, Performance Optimization, Backup and Recovery, Security, and Troubleshooting, using specific tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
• Infrastructure Management:
• Installation, Configuration, and Upgrades: Set up and maintain VAX systems, including software upgrades and patches using tools like VAX/VMS (OpenVMS) and VAXcluster.
• Storage Management:
• Allocate storage space, manage disks and volumes, and plan for future storage needs using tools like VMS Backup Utility and Disk Quotas.
• User Management:
• Create and manage user accounts, assign permissions, and control access to the system using VMS User Authorization File (UAF) and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
• Security:
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect VAX systems from unauthorized access and breaches using VMS Security and DECnet.
• Performance Optimization:
• Monitoring: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective actions using tools like VMS Monitor Utility and Performance Data Collector (TDC).
• Backup and Recovery:
• Backups: Regularly back up systems to ensure data protection and disaster recovery using tools like VMS Backup Utility and DECnet Phase IV.
• Recovery:
• Restore systems from backups and resolve data corruption issues using VMS Backup Utility.

Requirements:

We require a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in VAX infrastructure management, performance optimization, backup and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
