Responsibilities
At Houston Methodist, the Endoscopy Technician I (Endo Tech) position, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, provides support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other members of the healthcare team and is directly involved in patient care before, during and after procedures
This position assists with gastroenterology (GI) endoscopy procedures related to preparation for and assisting with room turnaround activities for procedures, which include cleaning and processing of endoscopes and accessory equipment
The Endo Tech I position is familiar with all endoscopy supplies and other related equipment ensuring that items are ready, available and in good working conditions at all times
Other duties for this position will include department upkeep, as delegated by licensed personnel
Collaborates with all members of the interprofessional care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner
Communication to promote both work efforts and problem resolution is clear and professional
Contributes to a positive work environment with the interprofessional care team to achieve optimal department results
Participates in teamwork by responding positively to requests for assistance
Collaborates to foster healthy relationships in the work environment
Makes contributions to the work effort as a whole
Prepares room, equipment and supplies to accommodate planned procedures
Supports the physician with diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopy procedures, pertinent observations, and anticipates the next steps and possible complications of those procedures
