In this role, you’ll:

Regulatory Oversight Compliance: Ensure compliance with electrical safety and technical standards through expert audits, risk-based assessments, and enforcement of the Electricity Act, including investigation of incidents and breaches.
Technical Advice Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert guidance, reports, and submissions to internal management and engage with contractors, workers, and external stakeholders to uphold safety and technical standards.
Audit Investigation Management: Conduct complex field audits and investigations, manage physical audit resources, and collect evidence to support regulatory enforcement actions where required.
Education Industry Support: Deliver industry education through publications, presentations, and public information sessions, promoting awareness and understanding of safety and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Learning Knowledge Sharing: Maintain current knowledge of evolving standards and legislation, participate in training, and share insights with colleagues to support consistent regulatory practices.

The Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR) monitors and regulates the safety and technical standards for electrical, gas and plumbing installations, as well as electricity, gas, water and sewerage network infrastructure.

The OTR carries out an extensive range of activities. These activities oversee the administration, compliance and performance of individuals, businesses and organisations that operate in these industries. This is to protect the work, the workers, and the public.

Key Selection Criteria:
Please only address the dot points listed below in your application

Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 ‘The Wiring Rules’ and other standards called up by AS/NZS 3000
Understanding of computer concepts use of applications within a Microsoft Windows/MS Office environment. Analytic ability using Power point, spreadsheets, and databases.
Demonstrated capacity to undertake complex investigations, research, analyse and identify strategic and operational issues including the ability to think laterally in order to develop creative solutions, make sound and timely decisions and prepare and present clear and concise reports with recommendations.
Demonstrated extensive experience working in the South Australian electrical industry.
Qualifications:
Essential: South Australian unrestricted electrical workers registration.

Remuneration:
OPS5 salary range $82,090 - $87,758 per annum + superannuation
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week

Special Conditions:

South Australian (car as a minimum) driver’s license
Participate in an afterhours On-Call roster – usually 1 in 8 weeks
Some intrastate and interstate travel will be required with short absences from home
Work in elevated positions and confined spaces may be required.
Work will involve the investigation of fatalities and serious injuries resulting from electrical accidents which may involve the examination and handling of deceased persons.
Occasional work after hours and on weekends.
This position is classified as a designated position and as such, appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance screening check.
