Travelling ECE Teacher (Relocation Required)
Location: TRAVEL TO Gesgapegiag, Quebec - REQUIRED
Start Date: April 6, 2025 for initial 1 week placement, AND April 28 for 2 month classroom placement
Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension
The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC - SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science technology engineering and math (STEM) programming open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application.
The STEM program will educate students from preschool to high school. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Travelling Teacher (ECE - Early Childhood Education Teacher welcome) to join our team and deliver STEM and literacy-based learning to Indigenous communities. This role requires on-site teaching for 8 consecutive weeks with possibility of extension into summer and fall. This role requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to nurturing each student's potential. You will work with students aged 2 to 4 years of age.

• April 7 - 12, 2025 - Start for 1 week
• April 28, 2025 - June 20, 2025

Duties Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement engaging early learning and literacy lesson plans or students aged 2 to 4 years of age that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
• Create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, assignments, and observations.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching strategies and share best practices.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
• Maintain classroom organization and manage student behavior effectively.
• Teach students STEM-based skills across a range of subjects:-Math - Reading - Early Childhood Education.
• Incorporate Indigenous culture and knowledge where appropriate to create a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
• Create literacy strategies tailored to students with lower literacy levels, ensuring that STEM lessons are accessible and effective.
• Train local teachers on how to roll out literacy-based lessons, providing them with tools, strategies, and resources to continue early learning education after your assignment ends.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an early years environment.
• Ability to stay on location for 2-3 months.
• Experience working with lower literacy students and Indigenous communities
• Familiarity with Indigenous culture
• Passion for literacy education.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Early Childhood education, ECA, Montessori or provincially certified teacher.
Experience
• Previous ECE teaching experience is highly desirable but not mandatory. New graduates are encouraged to apply with previous coop or placement experience.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
• Proficiency in classroom management techniques and the ability to adapt lessons for various learning needs.
• Familiarity with literacy practice and educational technology tools is a plus.
