Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role provides vital support in delivering exceptional patient care within a busy optometry practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office procedures, familiarity with electronic medical records, and a passion for assisting patients through their vision care journey. Duties
Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment at the front desk
Assist with patient care activities, including preliminary eye measurements and visual acuity testing
Manage electronic medical records using systems such as Optosys, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Prepare exam rooms and assist optometrists during eye examinations and procedures
Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and frame selections; support retail sales efforts
Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate patient flow efficiently
Handle administrative tasks such as verifying insurance information and processing patient payments
Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and equipment
Support pediatrics patients with age-appropriate communication and care
Requirements
Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within an optometry or ophthalmology practice
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Optosys or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and vision care
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs
Experience with front desk operations, including scheduling and insurance verification
Optical experience or background in retail sales is a plus, especially for assisting with frame selections and product education
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, staff, and vendors
Knowledge of pediatric patient care is desirable but not required
