Purpose of the Role:

To deliver high-quality A-Level teaching in Chemistry and/or Biology, fostering academic excellence, scientific curiosity, and preparing students for further education and careers in science and related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated A-Level Chemistry and Biology lessons in line with UK curriculum requirements (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR).
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Assess, record, and report on student progress in accordance with college policy.
Use data and assessment outcomes to inform instruction and target support for individual learners.
Prepare students thoroughly for internal and external examinations.
Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and curriculum review.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support continuous improvement.
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and leadership regarding student progress.
Participate in college events including open days, parents’ evenings, and CPD activities.
Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment, supporting the college’s behaviour policies.
Actively contribute to the pastoral care of students and the wider college community.
Adhere to all safeguarding procedures and promote the well-being of students.
Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

A good honours degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related Life Sciences discipline.
UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification.
Demonstrated experience of teaching Chemistry or Biology at A-Level within a UK curriculum context.
Proven record of student success and progress in science subjects.
Understanding of A-Level examination board requirements (Edexcel, AQA, OCR etc.).
Desirable (Added Advantage):

Ability to teach both Chemistry and Biology to A-Level standard.
Experience in curriculum leadership or resource development.
