You will be part of the Nursing & Midwifery Research Service, which sits within the District’s Nursing and Midwifery Directorate. The position is based at the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute (CCCSRI) building at Gosford Hospital campus. This role operates across CCLHD, providing opportunities to support clinician-led research while building strong connections with academic partners, clinical services, and the District Research Office.
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse / Midwife Consultant Grade 2 (Nursing & Midwifery Research) to support the development of nursing and midwifery research capability across CCLHD. In this role, you will provide expert advice, education and mentorship to nurses and midwives undertaking practice-based research initiatives. Working collaboratively with clinicians, academics and managers, you will support the planning and delivery of research capacity-building initiatives and assist clinicians to translate evidence into practice to improve patient care. A key focus of the role is coordinating and facilitating the Nurse / Midwife Clinical Research Internship Program, while supporting clinicians to develop research skills and confidence through education, coaching and practical project support. This role works closely with the Nurse Manager Grade 3 (Nursing & Midwifery Research) and the broader research team to strengthen a sustainable research culture across the organisation.
In this role you will:
Coordinate and facilitate the Nurse / Midwife Clinical Research Internship Program, including recruitment, participant support, mentor liaison and program evaluation.
Support clinician-led research projects from problem identification through to study design, ethics and governance approvals, data management and dissemination of findings.
Provide mentoring, coaching and education to nurses and midwives undertaking or planning research projects.
Deliver research education workshops and information sessions to enhance research capability within the nursing and midwifery workforce.
Collaborate with internal and external partners including clinical teams, the Research Office, and university partners to facilitate research engagement and development.
Promote nursing and midwifery research activity through communication, showcases and dissemination initiatives.
Contribute to governance, monitoring and evaluation of research capacity-building activities aligned with the CCLHD Research Strategic Plan.
Support the Nurse Manager Nursing & Midwifery Research in broader research leadership priorities and initiatives that strengthen research capability across the District.
You will be supported by the Nursing & Midwifery Directorate team and have opportunities to work with clinicians, academic partners and research networks to advance nursing and midwifery research and evidence-based practice.

About You
You are a motivated and collaborative nurse or midwife with a strong interest in research and evidence-based practice. You enjoy mentoring others, building capability, and supporting clinicians to translate research into improved patient outcomes.
We are looking for someone who has:
Current Authority to Practice with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Midwife.
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including experience in a specialty field and experience in practice-based research.
Postgraduate qualifications in research (Research higher degree or working towards one in Health or a related field preferred).
Demonstrated experience supporting or conducting research, including aspects of study design, literature review, ethics and governance processes, data management and dissemination.
