Make a Real Impact

Bevan Brittan LLP is a multi-award winning Top 100 commercial law firm. We are market leaders in a number of sectors in including financial services, health and social care, energy and resource management, construction and higher education sectors.

Supported by our valued business services professionals, our award-winning and growing legal teams provide almost 2,000 organisations with commercial, corporate, property, finance, regulatory, employment and litigation (commercial and clinical negligence) legal and advisory services.

As a responsible business, we embrace four values: Relationships, Reputation, Responsible and Results. These give us a sense of purpose. They influence the decisions we make and how we work with each other. Importantly, they motivate us to deliver meaningful outcomes for our clients and the communities that we're part of.

Consistently recognised as one of The Times Best Law Firms and highly ranked across the legal directories, we are proud of our hard-earned reputation. Our 2023/24 financial results confirmed both revenue and profit growth for an eleventh consecutive year, ensuring our ability to continue investing in our people.

Looking to the future, we're targeting ambitious growth and success. And we're looking for the best people to be part of it.

Join a team of experts and progressive thinkers

Following continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor or Associate to join our Banking Finance team.

We are an ambitious and dynamic team of banking finance specialists, who act for a wide range of clients across a number of sectors, including property development, health and social care, living provision and housing, local authority and education.

We regularly act for lender, investor, corporate and developer clients on funding for property acquisitions and development, corporate acquisitions and refinancing. We are continuing to expand our client base, winning places on an increasing number of bank panels, including those of challenger banks and specialist real estate lenders, notably in the healthcare sector. Our recognised expertise in healthcare finance means that we are frequently instructed on high-value and complex transactions.

We are ranked in the top tiers for social housing, healthcare and local authority work by both Chambers and Legal 500. We are also proud to have won Legal Advisor of the Year (Transactional) at the HealthInvestor Awards for four consecutive years and are again a finalist for the upcoming awards in June 2025.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a large variety of work and a chance to meaningfully contribute to the growth of our Banking Finance practice, by building relationships with clients and engaging in business development initiatives.

Key activities include:
• Drafting, negotiating and agreeing finance documents.
• Assisting senior team members in transaction management on key transactions.
• Working with other team members to deliver documentary conditions precedent to transactions.
• Supervising and supporting paralegals, trainees and newly qualified team members.
• Responsibility for managing own transactions where appropriate, supported by senior lawyers.
• Building relationships with new and existing clients and supporting the practice in business development.

There will be significant progression available for the successful candidate, with the opportunity to learn from senior lawyers, recognised as experts in their fields.

What we're looking for from you

You will have at least two years' qualified banking experience and enjoy being part of a transactional team as you will be regularly collaborating with colleagues from our Property, Construction, Commercial and Corporate teams.

This role will involve advising clients on a full range of banking matters and transactions from start to finish. At Solicitor/Associate level, you will need to be competent on loan and security agreements.

Whilst we are open to a range of banking experience, exposure to real estate or corporate finance would be beneficial, notably in the context of the healthcare and living sectors.

As well as building out your technical skill-set, within this role, you will have a real opportunity to hone your business development skills and sector specific knowledge.

Our sector focus allows you to continue to build and grow your Banking Finance expertise on high value and high profile transactions and also to complete transactions with impact and contribution. The role will have significant opportunity in the healthcare and living sectors, where we support our clients to deliver much needed care and living provision, including care homes, schools, children's homes and other living provisions. This is work with meaning.

We are looking for passionate and committed lawyers who care deeply about delivering an excellent service to their colleagues and their clients, who take pride in the quality of their work and in the depth of their relationships and connections. You will be proactive and forward thinking, responsive and hard work and also caring, compassionate and collaborative.
