The role holder will work closely with the Responsible Officer (RO) and Lead Medical Appraiser, reporting to the Medical Revalidation Manager. The administrator is responsible for ensuring that the revalidation process for doctors in the Bupa Designated Body (DB) is efficient, smooth, and effective, meeting current General Medical Council (GMC) and NHS England requirements at all times. The post-holder plays a key role in enabling the Responsible Officer to recommend the 5-year relicensing of a doctor to the GMC.

The role

As Medical Revalidation Administrator, in addition to managing the 5 yearly GMC revalidation process, you will also ensure annual Doctor appraisals take place on time and are in line with GMC and Bupa policies and procedures. You will proactively engage with all Doctors in Bupa’s Designated Body to ensure revalidation and appraisals are completed on time.

You’ll help us make health happen by
• Monitor appraisal and revalidation timeframes and pro-actively work with the Medical Lead Appraiser to progress appraisals and revalidation in the Bupa Designated Body.
• Manage the connection and disconnection of doctors joining and leaving the Bupa designated body.
• Support the RO with RO-to-RO communications (MPIT forms).
• Deliver training in the use of the appraisal system and give support and advice to doctor appraisers, doctor appraisees, and their administrators/ delegates.
• Advise and support new and existing appraisers, who are doctors, in the standards required and supports new appraisers through their probationary period.
• Manage the day-to-day relationship with the provider and run the formal assessment of any new Revalidation/ appraisal management software. Co-ordinate and discuss with the provider any requests for improvements in the system.
• Responsible for ensuring the Bupa Designated Body has sufficient and appropriately trained appraisers at all times. Ensures all doctors in the Bupa Designated Body are included in the appraisal scheme and have access to an appraiser by maintaining adequate appraiser/appraisee ratios.

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
• Fully familiar with appraisal and revalidation requirements and maintains an up-to-date knowledge through use of GMC and NHS England website.
• Experience in working with clinicians/senior stakeholders and advising them.
• Good interpersonal and influencing skills and able to influence busy senior doctors who may be reluctant or even resentful about participation or improving their submission.
• Very organised and efficient, excellent attention to detail, highly diligent
• Good planning skills
• A pro-active approach to inform and work with doctors well in advance of when their appraisal and revalidation are due.
• IT literate, include interactive spreadsheets for audit tools.
