Job Overview

We are looking to appoint an inspiring, dynamic and committed Associate Assistant Headteacher who will work closely with the Leadership group of the school. We are looking for someone who believes that high standards of behaviour and personal development are the key to unlocking a child's potential. Someone who will work with staff, students and parents to ensure that every child is given the support needed to succeed. The exact role will depend on the experience and interests of the successful candidate together with the needs of the school. Behaviour systems and support are already highly developed at the school so we are looking for someone who can innovate and connect the dots between pastoral and academic teams. There is great scope in the role to design and implement new pastoral projects which can address the disadvantage gap. You will be given the training and challenge needed to become a highly effective leader as part of the role.

The successful candidate will be:
• Committed to enhancing all aspects of students’ lives and making a real difference to students’ life chances.
• Have a proven track record of improvement across a year group or pastoral area.
• An excellent classroom teacher
• Highly analytical, emotionally astute and able to deploy appropriate strategies to maximise impact
• Think and act strategically based on the collation of a range of evidence.
• Experience of helping develop others and be committed to our values of excellence and achievement.
Why apply for this role?
• Ambitious, polite and well mannered students - our staffing body can teach students the subject they love
• Staff wellbeing is a top priority with behaviour and marking policies designed to reduce workload. Many staff enjoy 'Well being Mondays', staff yoga, social events, and a generous leave of absence policy
• Co-planning meetings within the school day to support sharing of best practice and departmental support
• A school consistently in the top 10% of schools for progress Nationally
• Small class sizes at KS4 and 5
• Support for new members of staff via our renowned Induction programme
• Potential for additional responsibilities (pastoral and or academic)
• Professional development with progression opportunities
• A well-embedded performance management structure
• Bike to Work scheme
• The full support of the Headteacher, senior leaders and colleagues
• You will lead talented and hard-working staff who are highly motivated to provide our children with stimulating, challenging and memorable learning experiences.
• You will have the opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the future of Northwood School
• You will benefit from a range of bespoke and effective support, from individual coaching to national programmes, such as NPQSL and Challenge Partner Hub participation.

Next Steps

Applications will be considered until closing date of 21st Feb, with interviews to commence w/b 26th Feb.
