Job Title: Anchor / Journalist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and articulate Anchor/Journalist to join our newsroom team. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, and delivering news stories and current affairs with clarity, integrity, and professionalism across our media platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

· Present news, current affairs, and special reports clearly and engagingly on-air or online.

· Research and gather verified information from credible sources on assigned topics.

· Conduct live or recorded interviews with individuals ranging from public figures to local citizens.

· Write and edit scripts for news bulletins, features, and interviews.

· Collaborate closely with producers, camera operators, and editorial teams to plan and produce content.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, national, and global news and trends.

· Ensure journalistic standards are upheld, including accuracy, balance, and fairness.

· Attend press conferences, community events, and breaking news scenes as required.

· Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to news planning and content direction.

Key Skills and Attributes:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong news judgment and storytelling ability.

· Confidence and clarity in front of the camera/microphone.

· Ability to think quickly and perform calmly under pressure, especially during live broadcasts.

· High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical reporting.

· Strong interviewing and interpersonal skills.

· Familiarity with digital tools and content management systems.

· Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· At least 5 years experience as a journalist, reporter, or anchor in a media organization is preferred.

· Knowledge of media law and ethical reporting practices.

· Knowledge of media law and ethical reporting practices.

· Proficiency in video/audio editing software is an advantage.

Working Conditions:

· Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as news requires.

· On-location reporting and occasional travel may be required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.50 per hour

Schedule:

8 hour shift
Work Location: In person
