A very successful, family-run produce farm is searching for their next highly skilled Agricultural Technician to join their busy team!

SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a dedicated and experienced Agricultural Technician on behalf of our client who specialises in cultivating fresh, seasonal vegetables, based in Virginia, South Australia.

With a strong focus on quality and sustainability, this business supplies local markets and wholesalers with a variety of crops that are grown using careful farming practices that prioritise soil health and water efficiency. With decades of experience in horticulture, the farm plays a key role in supporting South Australia’s fresh food supply chain.

Position – Agricultural Technician

Location – Virginia, South Australia

Salary - $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a highly skilled and qualified Agricultural Technician who takes great pride in their work. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of tasks related to crop production and farm operations, including monitoring soil health, maintaining irrigation systems, and supporting sustainable farming practices. The role is full-time and ongoing.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE:

· Monitor crop conditions and assess produce to ensure compliance with established quality standards through regular evaluations and reporting, to maintain and improve quality.

· Collaborate with agronomists and growers to identify crop threats and apply appropriate control measures to mitigate damage from pests, fungi, and diseases.

· Diagnose nutrient deficiencies and support corrective interventions to maintain optimal soil and crop nutrition levels, ensuring healthy plant development.

· Provide technical input into planting, fertilisation, and harvesting methods, contributing to continuous improvement in horticultural productivity and yield outcomes.

· Participate in trials and the development of new agricultural methods and practices and stay current with advancements in agricultural science and implement these new findings where applicable.

· Work closely with growers, agronomists, and other stakeholders while providing clear communication and regular updates on crop performance and project progress.

· Maintain accurate records on crop production, yields, and resource inputs to inform future planning and compliance.

· Provide observations or recommendations that support continuous improvement in sustainable farm operations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Relevant qualification, such as a Diploma of Agriculture or Horticulture (or agreed equivalent).

· Minimum of 3 years (preferably more) work experience in agricultural operations.

· Sound knowledge of plant biology, soil science, pest and disease management, and sustainable farming practices.

· Knowledge of Australian agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and WHS requirements.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team in field and research settings.

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
