Full job description
Lexia Communications Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Data Centre Technician to join our growing technical operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure across our data centre environments. You will support core operations by ensuring optimal performance of power, cooling, cabling, and network systems.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a passion for ensuring 24/7 data centre uptime and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and test structured cabling including Cat6 and fiber optics (single multimode).
Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain environmental and infrastructure systems (power, cooling, cabling, etc.).
Perform rack and stack of servers, switches, and other network equipment.
Support day-to-day data centre operations including preventive maintenance and incident response.
Conduct equipment inspections and physical audits to ensure operational readiness.
Maintain accurate documentation of all cabling, power, and equipment configurations.
Collaborate with network and systems teams for smooth deployment of hardware and service delivery.
Adhere to safety guidelines and compliance standards (TIA, NEC, BICSI, etc.).
Assist with equipment decommissioning and asset tracking as needed.
Requirements Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a data centre or structured cabling environment.
Strong understanding of cabling standards such as TIA/EIA, NEC, and BICSI.
Hands-on experience with copper and fiber installation, testing, and labeling.
Familiarity with environmental monitoring systems and UPS/power configurations.
Basic knowledge of IP networking and server infrastructure is an asset.
Certifications such as BICSI Installer, DCIM tools, or Fiber Optic Certification are preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and operate in physically demanding environments.
Excellent documentation, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours or participate in on-call rotation if needed.
