Job description
We are looking for a Senior Practice Nurse to join our General Practice Nursing Team delivering NHS and Private primary care services in one of our London clinics. The successful post holder will work closely with the nursing wider nursing team and be responsible for onsite leadership and clinical management.

You will be committed to the aims and objectives of eMed and instrumental in driving these forward on behalf of the company. You will need to be self motivated and a self starter.

There is an expectation that the role will be divided into 4 days clinical and 1 days management/administration. This is subject to change to meet the needs of the service. The role will be based on site whilst undertaking either administrative or clinical duties.

The successful candidate will support the operational and clinical management of the Nursing Team providing support, guidance and direction to achieve optimal standards of care, (currently this team includes Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Nursing Associates and Phlebotomists).

Your working days will be Monday - Sunday and be site based.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

Key responsibilities will be as per current Practice Nurse job description - below are additional responsibilities required of the Senior Practice Nurse.
• You will be responsible for the Line management of Practice Nurses, Nursing Associates, Healthcare Assistants and phlebotomists based at your location.
• You will support the launch of new NHS and Private services - taking responsibility for supporting staff onsite - working with the wider team to ensure implementation plans are fit for purpose and rolled out effectively..
• You will deliver what you have committed to, within agreed timeframes.
• You will not procrastinate on problems - rather focus on solutions and early identification of issues.
• You will conduct appraisals and provide regular constructive feedback and supervision to direct reports to support their professional development.
• You will coach and supervise Nursing staff through the revalidation process.
• You will contribute to the investigation of incidents, complaints, and significant events including conducting the investigations and making recommendations for improvement and shared learning, with support of other members of the team as required.
• You will act as the Infection Prevention and Control lead for your dedicated sites, completing the relevant audits and following up on actions alongside the key owners (training will be provided if needed).
• You and your team will be responsible for ensuring the nursing services conform to CQC and other statutory requirements.
• Actively involved in improving team engagement and ensuring every member of the team feels valued and supported.
• Liaise with front of house and other clinician types to ensure effective communication and team approach to any issue that may arise in the clinics.
• Participate in establishing and completing relevant nursing audits, including infection control, hand washing audits, emergency bag and monthly cold chain.
• Monitoring of vaccinations levels and stock levels, ensuring stock rotation and submitting timely order requests.
• Responsible for ensuring stock is at the required levels, fit for purpose and within budget.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Essential:
• Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Practice Nurse qualification or accredited long term condition modules + individual competencies
• Cervical Smear Taker
• Able to run and manage QOF workflows and clinics - including - but not limited to baby/childhood immunisations and travel clinics.

Desirable:
• Ear irrigation training
• Non medical prescriber
• Previous line management experience
• Previous IPC experience

WHO YOU ARE
• IT literate - experience of using SystmOne and other systems, able to multitask
• A willingness to undertake additional courses, training and education to meet the needs of the position; this includes attendance at on and off-site meetings and some study during non-working hours.
• A willingness to adapt working practice to meet changing practice and service development. Flexibility of working across sites if required.
• Performance is monitored on an ongoing basis and formally appraised annually.
