We are looking for a creative and technically skilled Sketcher to join our R&D team within the textile industry. The Sketcher will be responsible for developing detailed concept drawings, fabric pattern designs, and textile illustrations that support innovation, new product development, and trend exploration. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between conceptual ideas and production-ready designs through high-quality visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
• Create detailed hand-drawn and digital sketches of textile designs, patterns, and fabric innovations.
• Collaborate closely with textile designers, material scientists, and R&D specialists to visualize new fabric concepts and technical developments.
• Interpret trend forecasts, mood boards, and research findings into original visual concepts.
• Develop repeat patterns, colorways, and technical illustrations for fabrics, garments, and soft furnishings.
• Prepare visual presentations for internal teams, buyers, and development partners.
• Maintain an organized archive of all sketches, prototypes, and iterations for future development and reference.
• Assist the R&D team in material sampling processes by providing clear visual specifications and art-to-fabric mapping.
• Stay informed about emerging textile technologies, sustainable materials, and industry innovations to inspire creative outputs.Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Surface Design, or related field.
• Strong portfolio showcasing textile sketches, pattern designs, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in digital sketching and design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, Procreate, etc.).
• Good understanding of fabric structures, weaving, knitting, printing techniques, and surface embellishments.
• Strong attention to detail, color sense, and creativity.
• Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate research insights into tangible designs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to evolving project needs.
Preferred Skills
• Experience working with textile CAD systems (e.g., NedGraphics, TexDesign) is a plus.
• Knowledge of sustainable textile practices and innovation trends.
• Familiarity with technical design specifications and production processes.
