Job Description
Part-time 25.75 hours per week (34 hours per week in school holidays)
Mon-Wed: 12pm-5:15pm
Thursday: 10am-5:15pm
Friday: 12pm-5:15pm
School Holidays; Mon-Friday 10am-5:15pm
Location: Mataura Library

The Opportunity
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community‑focused individual to join our Mataura Library team as a Community Connections Co‑ordinator. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships, delivering meaningful programmes and events and helping people of all ages connect with library services.
In this role, you’ll develop, plan, and deliver a wide range of community programmes and events while helping grow awareness of Gore District Libraries. You’ll work closely with colleagues, community groups, schools and other stakeholders to ensure our libraries remain welcoming, vibrant hubs for learning, connection, and creativity.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A diploma in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Confidence running events, activities, and community programmes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good working knowledge of Office 365, Google Workspace, and digital technologies
A full, clean Class 1 driver licence
Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand
In addition to the above you will:
Design and deliver library programmes and events for children, youth, newcomers, and older adults
Build and strengthen relationships with schools, ECEs, community groups, and local organisations
Help manage library social media channels and contribute to newsletters and marketing material
Coordinate visiting authors, artists, and community partners
Support customers with technology and digital queries
Collect statistics and prepare reports on programmes and events
Apply for and manage grant funding where appropriate
Provide excellent customer service, including rostered shifts and occasional sole charge
Support the wider library team and assist with general library duties
